A controlled movement engaging lower body musculature and deep core stabilizers for postural integrity and pelvic floor awareness.

Lotte Berk Technique · Developed by Lotte Berk, a German-Jewish dancer who fled the Nazis and opened her studio in London in 1959. Her method combined ballet barre exercises with rehabilitative techniques. This specific combination emphasizes both strength and active core engagement. · Fatigue in upright posture, undefined core, mild pelvic floor laxity. · Perform 2 sets of 10-15 repetitions. Integrate into a daily movement practice or as a warm-up before more intensive activity.

Why it works

The controlled lowering and lifting of the heels during the plié relevé sequence challenges proprioception and balance. This activates slow-twitch muscle fibers in the quadriceps, glutes, and calves, improving muscular endurance. The continuous deep abdominal and pelvic floor engagement throughout the movement strengthens these intrinsic core muscles, crucial for spinal stability and pelvic organ support. The controlled eccentric contraction and isometric holds enhance neuromuscular control.
