Rebounding: Twisting Jog
A dynamic rebounding movement targeting lymphatic flow and vestibular stimulation through rotational movement.
A dynamic rebounding movement targeting lymphatic flow and vestibular stimulation through rotational movement.
Rebounding (Mini-trampoline exercise) · Developed within the broader rebounding fitness community to enhance core engagement and introduce a rotational component to typical jogging patterns. · Fatigue, stagnant lymphatic circulation, need for vestibular input, desire for core engagement. · Perform for 2-5 minutes as part of a longer rebounding session. Can be repeated multiple times with rest intervals.
Why it works
The low-impact, oscillating nature of the trampoline surface facilitates lymphatic drainage by creating gentle compression and decompression on tissues. The twisting motion adds an oblique and transverse plane challenge, engaging core musculature. This rotational stimulus also provides novel input to the vestibular system, contributing to improved balance and spatial awareness. The rhythmic impact further enhances bone density and circulation.
How to practice
Starting Position: Stand on the mini-trampoline with feet hip-width apart, knees soft, and core gently engaged. Maintain an upright posture.
Initiate Jog: Begin a gentle jog in place, lifting alternating knees to hip height, ensuring midfoot contact with the mat.
Introduce Twist: As you jog, gently rotate your torso from side to side. For example, as the right knee lifts, twist your torso slightly to the left, bringing your left elbow towards your right knee without forcing extreme rotation. Reverse the twist with the opposite leg.
Arm Movement: Allow your arms to move naturally in opposition to your legs and torso, similar to natural running form, but with a slight emphasis on contributing to the rotational momentum.
Maintain Softness: Keep knees soft and absorb the impact through your ankles, knees, and hips. Avoid locking out any joints.
Core Engagement: Focus on initiating the twist from your core rather than just swinging your arms.
