The Rebound Alternating Knee Lift

A gentle, rhythmic rebound exercise that alternates knee lifts, promoting lymphatic flow and vestibular activation with low impact.

Rebounding (mini-trampoline exercise) · Developed as a foundational movement in rebound exercise protocols, emphasizing lymphatic drainage and proprioceptive input. · Fatigue, stagnant lymphatic system, stiffness, mild anxiety, need for gentle cardiovascular activity. · Perform for 2-5 minutes as a warm-up or active recovery, 1-3 sets. Focus on rhythm and breath rather than height.

Why it works

The low-impact, rhythmic oscillation on a rebounder creates a gravitational load that stimulates lymphatic circulation without stressing the joints. The alternating knee lifts engage core stabilizers and hip flexors, while the subtle changes in body position challenge the vestibular system, improving balance and spatial awareness. The cyclical nature of the movement, synchronized with breathing, can downregulate the nervous system, promoting a sense of calm.

How to practice

  1. Stand on the rebounder with feet hip-width apart, knees soft, and gaze forward.

  2. Begin a gentle health bounce, allowing your body to oscillate softly with minimal lift off the mat.

  3. As you rebound, slowly lift your right knee towards your chest, keeping your foot flexed. The bounce should continue throughout the movement.

  4. Gently lower your right foot back to the mat, maintaining the health bounce.

  5. Immediately lift your left knee towards your chest, then lower it.

  6. Continue alternating knee lifts, maintaining a smooth, continuous health bounce.
