Nausea Reduction Sequence

Address GLP-1 nausea with targeted somatic input and vagal modulation.

GLP-1 nausea wave · during a nausea wave · 12 minutes

Why it works

Nausea involves complex signaling between the gut and brain, often mediated by the vagus nerve. Gentle pressure and specific movements can stimulate afferent vagal fibers, influencing gastric motility and reducing visceral hypersensitivity. Facial release and controlled breathing directly impact parasympathetic tone, promoting a calming response. This sequence aims to attenuate discomfort by actively engaging the body in a regulatory process, shifting focus, and fostering a sense of control over internal states.

  1. Acupressure Point Release — Apply gentle, sustained pressure to the P6 (Neiguan) acupressure point on your inner forearm, roughly three finger-widths below the wrist crease, between the two tendons. Breathe slowly, feeling the slight release over 2 minutes on each arm.

  2. Gentle Head Rolls — Seated or standing, slowly drop your chin towards your chest. Gently roll your head towards one shoulder, then back through center to the other. Coordinate with your breath: inhale as you lift slightly, exhale as you roll. Maintain a small, controlled range of motion. Repeat for 2 minutes.

  3. Trace Sternum for Ventral Vagus Access — Follow the instructions for Trace Sternum for Ventral Vagus Access, focusing on light touch and diaphragmatic breathing.

  4. Ginger Water Sip — Slowly sip 2-4 ounces of warm water infused with a thin slice of fresh ginger. Focus on the subtle warmth and taste. Take small sips, pausing between each to assess your internal state. Do not gulp.

  5. Supported Supine Rest — Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat on the floor, or with legs elevated on a cushion. Place one hand on your chest and one on your abdomen. Observe the gentle rise and fall of your breath without attempting to control it. Rest for 1 minute.
