The Nervous State · contributors

Five slots. Every one of them credited.

The magazine ships weekly with the same shape every time. That shape only holds because people who actually know things fill it — writers, practitioners, testers, hosts, film-makers. Here is what each slot is, and the smallest possible way to say yes to it.

    1. The Read

      Writers, journalists, researchers

One long editorial on how the body actually works. 1,600–2,400 words. Mechanism first, named studies, no pep talk.

The ask: Pitch a paragraph. Not a draft.

    2. Signals

      Reporters and analysts

Short, sharp reads on what moved in wellness, sport and health this week — and what it means for a nervous system.

The ask: Three lines per signal is plenty.

    3. The Verdict

      Brands and testers

One product, used for two to three weeks, reviewed with the evidence still attached. Honest by design — verdicts run whether they flatter or not.

The ask: Send one unit or two weeks of access.

    4. The Practice

      Coaches, practitioners, therapists

One practice a reader can do tonight. Numbered steps, the mechanism in a sentence, credited by name and modality.

The ask: Three lines, or a five-minute voice note.

    5. The Companion

      Podcasters and video makers

An edition cut for audio or built for screen. We supply the script spine and the sources; you keep creative control and the upload.

The ask: Read the spine before committing to anything.

    How it works, plainly

    • Commissions are paid. Rates depend on the slot and the length. Ask and I'll send the current rate card — no negotiation theatre.
    • You keep your byline and your links. Every contributor is named in the edition and again in the credit note that goes out when it ships.
    • Editing is light. I edit for mechanism and clarity, never to flatten a voice into house style. You see changes before publication.
    • Verdicts stay honest. Brands never see a verdict before readers do, and nobody pays for one. That's the whole reason the slot is worth anything.
    • One pitch is enough. A paragraph, a voice note, or a single line saying "interested, send terms". Silence is a fine answer too.

Pitches go to desk@kokorology.com. Put the slot name in the subject line and I'll answer in a day or two.
