This routine helps resynchronize your body after travel, reducing jet-lag dysregulation through gentle systemic cues.

POST-TRAVEL JET-LAG DYSREGULATION · upon waking in the new time zone · 15 minutes

Why it works

Jet lag disrupts the suprachiasmatic nucleus, your body's master clock, which relies on light cues and regular patterns. This routine gently re-establishes a new temporal structure. Hydration supports metabolic functions stressed by travel. Focused movement and somatics reduce physiological static, signaling safety to the nervous system. Auditory stimulation and light exposure, especially in the morning, are critical zeitgebers, helping to reset circadian rhythms. This systematic approach stabilizes the HPA axis, reducing cortisol dysregulation often seen post-travel.

  1. Hydrate and Replenish Electrolytes — Drink 500ml of water with a pinch of sea salt or a quality electrolyte tablet. Sip it slowly over two minutes, noticing the cool liquid as it moves down. This rehydrates cells after pressurized cabin air and rebalances minerals.

  2. Gentle Spinal Rotation — Stand tall, feet hip-width apart. Let your arms swing freely as you gently twist your torso from side to side, allowing your head to follow naturally. Perform 10 rotations each way, gradually increasing range. This mobilizes the spine and stimulates proprioceptors, waking the body.

  3. Ear Pull and Jaw Release — Gently pull the top of your right ear upwards, then the middle outwards, then the lobe downwards. Repeat three times. Switch ears. Then, using your fingertips, find the masseter muscles near your jaw hinge and apply gentle, sustained pressure for 30 seconds. Release slowly. This targets tension accumulated from travel stress.

  4. Hum Low and Feel Inner Resonance — Engage with Hum Low and Feel Inner Resonance. Follow the instructions for 5 minutes, allowing the vibration to settle your system and provide a novel sensory input.

  5. Supported Recline — Lie supine on the floor, legs bent, feet flat, knees together. Place a small pillow under your head. Close your eyes and focus on the sensation of your body contacting the floor. Rest here for 2 minutes, allowing gravity to ground you. There's nothing to do but feel.
