GLP-1 NAUSEA WAVE · when a wave of nausea arises · 12 minutes

Why it works

The gut-brain axis is a bidirectional communication pathway. Nausea signals from the gut travel via vagal afferents to the brainstem. By gently activating the parasympathetic nervous system through controlled breath and specific somatic inputs, we can modulate these afferent signals, downregulating the nausea response. Hydration and specific minerals support gastric motility and electrolyte balance, which can be disrupted by GLP-1 agonists, further reducing discomfort. Softening facial muscles also reduces general tension, which often accompanies nausea.

  1. Sip Electrolytes Slowly — Mix 250ml of water with a pinch of sea salt and a squeeze of lemon. Sip this liquid very slowly, taking at least two minutes to consume. Notice the cool sensation in your mouth and throat.

  2. Gentle Torso Rock — Sit comfortably with both feet flat on the floor. Place your hands on your knees. Gently rock your torso side-to-side, or in small circles, for one minute. Keep the movement minimal, like a slight sway, focusing on the subtle shift in weight.

  3. Soft Eye Gaze — Close your eyes or soften your gaze downwards. Allow your eyes to feel heavy in their sockets. Without effort, let them move as if floating in warm water for two minutes. This reduces visual input and relaxes the oculomotor muscles.

  4. Warm the Back of Your Neck — For additional support, consider the day's specific practice: Warm the Back of Your Neck. Allow the instructions to guide you.

  5. Supine Stillness — Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat on the floor. Place one hand on your chest and one on your abdomen. Observe the gentle rise and fall of your breath for two minutes. No need to alter it.
