The architecture take
You know how everyone tells you to set SMART goals? Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound. Sounds great on paper, but it often skips the most important first step: are you actually ready for it? This isn't just fluffy self-help talk; it's a nervous system question. If your baseline is already shot, if you’re burnt out, if your cortisol is running high, adding another 'achievable' goal just piles on more perceived load. Dr. Tiger points to readiness and confidence, and I'd add capacity. Can your current state actually absorb this new demand? Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up for another cycle of trying hard, failing, and feeling bad, which just compounds the stress. Before you write down one single metric, figure out your current bandwidth.
